The Eggenberg Palace, located 3 km from Graz, was built in 1625-1635 in the style of Mannerism. It was conceived as an allegory of time and the universe. Four corner towers symbolize the four seasons, 12 gates - 12 months, and 365 windows - the number of days in a year.

The interior of the palace is made in the Baroque and Rococo style and is oversaturated with stucco, ceiling paintings, paintings, crystal and antique furniture made of rare wood species. The walls and ceiling of the Main Hall are painted with the signs of the zodiac, which is why it is also called the Planetary Hall.

The museum wing houses part of the Styrian Museum. The most valuable exhibit in the collection is a bronze chariot from Strettweg of the 7th century BC. depicting a scene of sacrifice. A collection of coins and medals can also be viewed.
