Photo and description

The house of the Bubnov family in Ivanovo is located on III International Street. He is the only one preserved from the city estate of this family. In general, the estate of the Bubnov family in Ivanovo was formed in the 1840s-1880s and at first included a brick factory building, residential buildings, and wooden outbuildings. The dwelling house with a mezzanine, presumably, was built according to a typical project of the late classicism, it is distinguished by a rather modest decor. It is especially valuable because it is an early type of dwelling house, once characteristic of the village of Ivanovo, today it is the only one in the city.

At the end of the 1880s, the house was completely transferred to Sergei Bubnov, who for several years was a member of the City Council. In the first half of the 20th century, the Bubnov family lived here, and then - its descendants.

In 1976, by the decision of the Regional Executive Committee, the house with a mezzanine was transferred under state protection as a historical monument. And on November 4, 1978, it was opened as a memorial house-museum of A.S. Bubnov - Bolshevik revolutionary, prominent statesman and party leader, Commissar of Education of the USSR.

Museum workers still maintain close contact with representatives of the Bubnov family. They are invited to the annual celebration of A.S. Bubnov, the family heirlooms of this family are used for presentation at museum exhibitions.

Since 2002, this house has been used to organize activities for the demonstration of exhibitions that tell about the history of the famous Ivanovo-Voznesensk families. Using materials from family archives, the museum acquaints its visitors with family life, relationships, traditions, the experience of family life, accumulated by past generations.

In November 2002, the first such exhibition was opened. Its exposition consists of original documents and photographs that tell about the history of the Bubnov family and one of its members - a political figure and revolutionary A.S. Bubnov. The homeliness of an old house, where several generations of the Bubnov family have changed, creates an amazing atmosphere that allows you to imbue the spirit of this family.

In the spring of 2003, an exhibition was opened that was dedicated to the history of the Zhurov family. It is based on documents from their family archives. Documents and photographs tell about the intertwining of the fate of members of the Bubnov and Zhurov families - Peter Zhurov and Andrey Bubnov studied together at the Ivanovo-Voznesensk real school.

A confidential and warm atmosphere has been created in the museum of the House of Bubnovs, where various events are held: musical evenings, chamber performances, Round Table meetings discussing the problems of family sociology, thematic classes, theatrical excursions. The social role of the museum is expressed in the combination of its cognitive and educational functions with elements of family leisure. The backyard of the house-museum is a landscape composition called "Green Oasis in the Stone".

The house-museum has a permanent exhibition telling about the history of the Bubnov family. The interior of those times has been restored in the living room, themed and musical evenings are held here. The exhibition hall hosts exhibitions that tell about the history of other famous families of Ivanovo.

In 2008, the museum hosted the Forgotten Lace exhibition. The exhibits for her were provided by E.A. Kahn, the great-niece of A.S. Bubnov.
