The Helena Varnavovna Nagaevskaya Museum is located on the outskirts of the ancient city of Bakhchisarai, on Vostochnaya Street, 11, next to the palace of the Crimean Khans.

The Museum was founded on July 3, 1995 in a one-story adobe mansion, erected in the 30s. 20 Art. This modest Tatar house was acquired in 1955 after the death of A. Romm by his wife, E. Nagaevskaya, for a fee that she received from the publication of her husband's fundamental research “Russian Monumental Reliefs”. After a while, a new house and an exhibition hall were added. The collection of watercolors and paintings by E. Nagaevskaya, personal belongings, archival materials and furniture served as the basis for the creation of the museum. The author of the project was the architect A. Petrova. E.V. Nagaevskaya rendered great assistance in founding the museum of E. Nagaevskaya. Petrov, who is the director of the Bakhchisarai Historical and Cultural Reserve.

The museum, located in two memorial rooms, acquaints its visitors with the life and work of the artist E.V. Nagaevskaya (1900-1990). Nagaevskaya took painting lessons from such outstanding masters as Kuprin, Lentulov, Udaltsov. In the 30s. she has already participated in various all-Union exhibitions. In 1949 E. Nagaevskaya for the first time together with A.G. Romm, a famous art critic, a man of outstanding erudition, an artist, arrived in Bakhchisarai.

The first museum hall has preserved the setting that reflects the early, "avant-garde" period of the artist's work. Part of the exposition presented here was dedicated to A.G. Romm. The second hall is dedicated to the "Bakhchisarai" and "Koktebel" periods of creativity E. Nagaevskaya, as well as her acquaintance with K.F.Bogaevsky. It was during this period that she captured the most famous historical monuments and picturesque corners of the Crimea.

The memorial environment created in the museum retains the spirit of a creative workshop, and many paintings and photographs add touching comfort, reflecting the image of a bygone era. Of particular interest in the museum are the letters and diaries of A. Romm and E. Nagaevskaya kept here, the family photo archive, watercolor drawings of artists, art studies and books.
