The Museum of Science and Industry, located in Manchester, chronicles the history of science, industry and technology, with a focus on the role of Manchester.

Manchester has always been famous for the fact that the most advanced scientific research is carried out here, the most daring and innovative engineering and technological projects are carried out. The famous saying goes: "Tomorrow the whole world will do what Manchester is doing today." It was here that the first passenger railway was launched, the first computer was made that stores programs in its memory. Here John Dalton explored the problem of human color perception and described a visual disorder now called "color blindness." The first profitable channel was dug here. Here were made the most important discoveries in the field of nuclear physics.

The museum was opened in 1969 as the Northwest Museum of Science and Industry. In 1978, the Manchester City Council bought the old Liverpool Station building from British Railways for a symbolic sum of one pound sterling. In 1983 the museum moved to the station building.

The Museum consists of several sections dedicated to the history and development of aviation, railways, computers, communications, etc.
