Photo and description

Butterfly Gorge is a unique nature reserve located in Yalongwan Bay. To get to the gorge, you need to overcome 30 km from the city of Sanya. The area of the valley, located in a picturesque gorge, is just over 1.5 hectares of land. On this territory, not only a variety of butterflies are presented, but also exotic plants and flowers.

The uniqueness of the reserve lies in its unique collection of butterflies collected all over the world. They were brought from South America, China and Africa. This reserve is divided into two equal parts. The first one includes a museum where you can see a rich collection of butterflies and other interesting insects from different countries. The second part, following the museum, is a small island with an artificially created rainforest, more reminiscent of a tiny gorge. This man-made "gorge" is inhabited by butterflies of all species on the planet from all over the world. Here you can meet both gray and nondescript moths, and huge, bird-like swallows. These beautiful creatures flutter around visitors, and their freedom is limited only by a net or an awning stretched from above, like the sky.

It is also interesting that the cost of individual copies can reach 20,000 US dollars.

During your trip to the reserve, you will certainly come across special "canteens" for winged beauties. In such places, whole mountains of food are specially scattered, so that you can catch the most beautiful butterflies right at the meal.

Butterflies have such a property - they fall asleep in extreme heat, in view of which tourists are recommended to visit this protected area in the evening or morning hours. At this time of day, insects are vigorous and fly freely in the space allocated for them.

All butterflies fly freely around the reserve around the stream and over flowers artificially processed with sugar. You can take pictures with them, but in no case should you catch them with your hands.

By the way, at the entrance to the reserve there is a one-story room, where you can see a large exhibition of insects, including more than 2000 species of different species. In addition, there is a small shop on the territory of the reserve. Here you can buy memorabilia: plates, magnets, paintings.
