One of the symbols of friendship between peoples in the socialist countries in the seventies of the twentieth century was the Penza monument "Globe", which makes one revolution a day - just like our planet. The massive building also has musical accompaniment in the form of a rooster's cry at seven in the morning and a song by Mark Bernes about friendship - every hour. The daily musical program of the monument ends with the Russian anthem at twelve o'clock in the morning.

The history of the "Globus" was not published in any magazine and was ignored in newspapers, so nowadays the reinforced concrete structure, personifying a friendly planet, has overgrown with the most incredible stories. One of the more acceptable versions of the creation of the "Globe" falls on the early seventies, when a complex transport junction was formed on Druzhby Narodov Square during the expansion of the road, and in order to avoid transport troubles and create a modern look of the city, a ring was built. The space of impressive dimensions inside the ring in those days simply had to be filled with something massive and patriotic. The name of the square (Friendship of Peoples), the street (Bekeskaya - in honor of the Hungarian sister city of Penza) may have influenced the idea of creating a `` metal planet ''. One way or another, the monument is dedicated to international friendship and is considered one of the symbols of the former Penza and a landmark of the present.

A similar unique structure is located in New York, but it is not as functional and an order of magnitude smaller.
