Bronevsky, according to whose project the museum was founded by the Russian Emperor Alexander I on November 8, 1810. And on May 13, 1811, the opening of the museum took place. The main part of the exposition were ancient items, monuments found in the ruins of medieval Kafa. There are also Hellenistic marble lions, relief slabs with a griffin and other exhibits. Over time, the museum was replenished with various exhibits found during excavations in Feodosia. The museum consists of several rooms. The hall of antiquity is represented by objects found during excavations on the territory of Crimea. The exhibits of the Middle Ages are finds from the Khazar, Hunnic, as well as Polovtsian burials of ancient Crimea. The expositions also paid great attention to the study of the history of Kafa.
