The founder of the theater was Arkady Raikin. It was called the Leningrad Theater of Miniatures. It was a variety theater, in which Arkady Raikin was the main actor. During the Great Patriotic War, the theater traveled a lot with concerts on the fronts. Theater artists performed at airfields, at artillery positions, on warships. Raikin was well known in Poland, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, the German Democratic Republic, Yugoslavia and Romania. In 1964, Raikin made a trip to England and performed there on television. In 1981, the son of Arkady Raikin, Konstantin Raikin, came to the theater with a group of young actors. At his insistence, it was decided to move the theater to Moscow. In 1982 the theater moved from Leningrad to Moscow. LI Brezhnev personally gave permission. In 1983 the building of the "Tajikistan" cinema was transferred to the Raikin Theater.
