Museum of the famous writer I.S. Shmelev in the city of Alushta is located in the green oasis of the Professors' Corner, next to the house of Academician A.N. Beketov. The museum was opened for visitors in 1993. The house-museum is interesting for several reasons: firstly, I.S. himself lived and worked here for four years. Shmelev, and secondly, this house was erected by the famous architect A.N. Beketov.

Russian writer I.S.Shmelev became famous for his documentary works describing the first Russian revolution. These are the stories "Ivan Kuzmin" and "Vakhmister", the stories "Decay", "The Man from the Restaurant", "On a Hurried Business", "The Sun of the Dead" and many others. In his works, the writer focused not on politics and statistics, but on the human soul, on the terrible themes of crime and madness, in the throes of experiencing all trials.

I. Shmelev lived in Alushta from 1918 to 1922. These were difficult years for the writer, here he experienced all the horrors of the civil war. One of Shmelev's few desires was the desire to live in Crimea, but the events of that time did not allow the writer to enjoy the Crimean nature in his own workshop.

An adobe house with a veranda and two rooms, in which I.S. Shmelev, was made in the style of classicism. The highlight of the one-story building is the raised roof in the center. A small white building surrounded by greenery has lightness, creating a sense of spaciousness. The fact that an outstanding writer lived here for four years is evidenced by a memorial plaque installed on the building.

In the only museum of the writer on the territory of the CIS, the main stages of his life and work in emigration are recreated. The image of the unfulfilled dream of a calm and quiet life in Crimea is recreated by paintings, household items, books, photographs, furniture and personal belongings of I.S. Shmeleva. A special section of the exposition is devoted to the history of writing the work "The Sun of the Dead", which tells about the terrible famine in the Crimea in 1921

A visit to the museum of the writer I.S. Shmelev in Alushta will be interesting to fans of the writer, as well as to everyone who interested in history, literature, as well as significant places that keep the memory of the tragic events of the past.
