Photo and descriptionThe symbol of the city of Vinnitsa is the Water Tower. This architectural monument was erected from the original red brick by the project of the Vinnitsa architect G. Artynov as the basis for the city water supply. The tower is located in the pedestrian zone of the city, among green chestnuts and old houses, in the park named after Kozitsky. During the Great Patriotic War, the tower was used as an observation post, from where they monitored the course of hostilities outside the city, since there was an excellent view from the tower site. In the postwar years, the Water Tower was used as living quarters for the workers of the local water utility. In 1985, the Water Tower was transferred to the Vinnytsia Regional Museum of Local Lore, which was located on the square of the Kozitsky Square. The museum includes expositions of the memorial of revolutionary and military glory. In 1993, the Museum of memory of the warriors of the Vinnytsia region, who died during the military operations (1979-1989) in Afghanistan, was opened in the Water Tower.
