Music and Drama Theater. M. Sadovsky is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Vinnitsa, which is located on Teatralnaya street, 13. The theater was founded in 1910

The building of the theater. M. Sadovsky was erected and equipped in record time - within 11 months, according to the project of the Vinnitsa architect G. Artynov. The production of the scenery was carried out by M. Basovskiy's Odessa studio, which also designed the Alexandria Imperial Theater.

In 1933, its own troupe of the Vinnitsa theater appeared, and until that time only visiting artists performed in it. From that moment, the seasons began to be counted.

At the very beginning, the theater was positioned as an opera and ballet theater, but in 1940 it was reorganized into a musical and dramatic theater. The room is designed for 700 seats. During the Great Patriotic War, the building of the drama theater was destroyed, but even then it did not stop its activities, and in 1944, in the former premises of the industrial cooperation club, the music and drama theater showed its first performances. The building was rebuilt and reconstructed according to the project of architect. D. Chernovola. After the restoration, the building acquired its lost exquisite and attractive appearance.

After a successful tour in Moscow and Kiev in 1957, the theater was named after the famous Ukrainian actor N. Sadovsky, who was the founder of the first music and drama theater in Ukraine.

Today Music and Drama Theater named after M. Sadovsky is the cultural center of the city of Vinnitsa. Its wide repertoire includes over a dozen performances based on dramas and plays by various writers of not only Ukrainian, but also world literature. Among which I would like to especially note the well-known "Inspector General" by N. Gogol, "The Queen of Chardash" by I. Kalman, as well as performances based on the works of L. Ukrainka, M. Bulgakov and many other authors.
