Museum of the artist Romero de Torres (Museo Julio Romero de Torres) description and photos - Spain: Cordoba. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Museo Julio Romero de Torres. Photo & DescriptionThe Julio Romero de Torres Museum is located in Cordoba in a former hospital for the poor, which also houses the Museum of Fine Arts of Cordoba. The museum is dedicated to the life and work of the famous Cordoba artist Julio Romero de Torres. Julio Romero de Torres, son of the artist Rafael Romero Barros, who founded the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in Cordoba, was born in Cordoba and spent much of his life here. He studied and lived in Madrid, traveled extensively in Europe and South America, but always returned to his native Cordoba, with which he felt an irresistible connection. It was his hometown that became the subject for many of the artist's paintings. Several artistic styles can be traced in the artist's work. This is realism, impressionism, popular at that time, love to which the artist was instilled by the paintings of his father, as well as symbolism. After the artist died on May 10, 1930, his widow and children decided to create a museum dedicated to his memory. The grand opening of the museum took place on November 23, 1931. A few years later, the museum moved to a house specially acquired for it. The museum has preserved furniture, personal belongings of the painter, as well as his library. Among the artist's works exhibited here are many portraits, paintings dedicated to his beloved Cordoba, as well as paintings on biblical themes. I would especially like to mention such works as "Poem to Cordoba", "Oranges and Lemons", "Our Lady of Andalusia", "Sin", "Look how beautiful it was!".
