Bullfighting is one of the main national entertainment in Spain. Presumably the history of bullfighting goes back to the Bronze Age, when the bull was considered a sacred animal, and killing it was a sacred ritual. After the reconquest period, bullfighting was the entertainment of the noble class, where a knight on horseback acted as a rival to the bull. Andalusia was the homeland of walking, famous and popular now, bullfighting. Therefore, it is not surprising that a museum dedicated to this beautiful and dangerous art has been opened in Cordoba, one of the most significant cities in the region.

The Municipal Bullfighting Museum is located in Cordoba on Maimonides Square. In 1954, the Museo Municipal de Artes Cordobesas y Artes was established in Cordoba, consisting of works of artisanal arts. A small exhibition in this museum was dedicated to the history of the bullfighting of Cordoba. In 1983 it formed the basis for the open Municipal Bullfighting Museum. The museum is mainly dedicated to the life, history and victories of the famous bullfighters of Cordoba. The collections of the museum display costumes, embroidered capes and personal belongings of matadors, announcements and posters of fights, paintings, sculptures and photographs dedicated to bullfighting. A separate exhibition is dedicated to the most famous matador of Cordoba - Manolete. This bullfighter, who has shown amazingly bright and magnificent fights throughout his career, at the age of 30 was defeated by a bull that did not submit to him. Among the exhibits of the museum are his blood-soaked uniforms, as well as the skin of the bull that killed him.
