Wax Museum description and photos - Ukraine: Kiev. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe Kiev Museum of Wax Figures is located in building number 29 on Pobedy Avenue. The impetus for the creation of the museum was the presence of the most interesting properties in ordinary wax. Even in ancient times, wax was used by mankind for various purposes, including for making portraits of close people and relatives. For the first time, wax sculptures were presented back in the 18th century in France by Dr. Cartier, but perhaps the most famous museum of wax figures was the British Museum of Madame Tussauds, a former student of the famous doctor. Since then, the technology of making wax figures has been practically has not changed, however, modern technologies today have not bypassed this direction of art that has become classic: for greater authenticity, animation, sounds, voices, etc. are used, so the art of making such figures still flourishes. It is not surprising that after visiting one of the museums of wax figures in Europe by the people of Kiev, they had the idea that such an ancient city as Kiev, famous for its museums, just lacks one more. Of course, it did not work out all at once, when working on the creation of the Kiev Museum of Wax Figures, we had to face various difficulties. The creation of the museum was especially hampered by the absence of specialists on the territory of Ukraine who knew how to work with wax. It took the creators of the museum three years to create their first collection, which consisted of 20 figures. For the first time, these sculptures were shown to the public in January 2000, in fact, it became the birthday of the museum.
