Dilijan Reserve, located in the north-eastern part of Armenia, is a national park and one of the main natural attractions of the city of Dilijan.

In 1937, on the basis of the Dilijan and Kuibyshev forestries, a timber industry enterprise was founded, which in 1958 was transformed into a state reserve, where the most interesting and valuable mountain-forest landscapes of the republic were protected. The main objects of protection of the reserve are oak and beech forests with all types of plants and animals, as well as rare and interesting plant communities of the Caucasus. The main varieties of trees are beech, elm, linden, pine, ash and thuja, various types of rose hips, maple and honeysuckle.

Northern Armenia, including the Dilijan Reserve, is very rich in relict species of flora. Some of them have survived from the Tertiary period, and some have remained from the Ice Age. On the territory of the reserve, along the Getik River, there are the largest yew groves in Transcaucasia.

Endangered and very rare plant species grow in the Dilijan Reserve, for example, cuckoo's tears, Kozo-Polyansky's bupless, leafless cap, blue cyanosis, shiny viper onion, hair halotis, and so on. Striking representatives of the animal world are the Caucasian subspecies of deer, sika deer, roe deer, brown bear, Persian squirrel and stone marten. In total, about 120 species of birds have been recorded on the territory of the reserve, the most valuable and rare among them are the chukar, Caucasian black grouse, griffon vulture, golden eagle, snowcock and black vulture.

The reserve is very rich in surface waters. In almost all large gorges and ravines, small streams flow, which flow into the main waterway of the national park - the Aghstev River. In addition, the reserve has many mineral springs.

The main natural attractions of the Dilijan reserve are the picturesque Haghartsin gorge and Lake Parz, with an area of about 2 hectares, and of the architectural attractions - the monastery complexes Matosavank, Haghartsin, Goshavank and Jukhtakvank.
