Palaces and museums

The ensemble includes two palaces: Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere, connected by regular gardens laid out in the French style. Fountains, stairs, statues, vases, pools - all create an impression of wealth and grandeur. The splendor of the baroque interiors delights and overwhelms.

Now the Upper Belvedere houses the Austrian Gallery with an exposition of 19th-20th century art. The world's largest collection of works by Gustav Klimt is exhibited here. The Lower Belvedere houses the Baroque Museum and the Museum of Medieval Art. The Mirror Cabinet deserves special attention: it is a richly decorated Baroque room with a statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy by Balthasar Permozero.
