Photo and description

Between Antalya and Kemer lies the Goynuk plain, famous for its pomegranate and orange orchards, the lowlands of which are covered with exotic southern vegetation: cacti, palms, oleanders. In ancient times, this plain was a road for traders, leading them to a warm and clean sea. The word "goynuk" in translation means "fertile valley in the place of sky-blue connection." The plain is surrounded by the beautiful and majestic Bedaglara mountains, in which a small mountain river originates, creating intricate ensembles of gorges and rocks on its way. The river canyon is a natural monument and attracts tourists from all over the world.

It can be reached under the guidance of an experienced guide on well-organized jeep safaris. There are two more ways to get to the canyon: ATV ride and bike ride. You will need to start the journey early in the morning. The first thing you will meet on the way is a picturesque pine forest, which you can enjoy for half an hour. From the highway, the road is paved with tiles, there are sidewalks and parking for vehicles. On the way to the canyon, there is a recreation area with ponds for swimming, numerous benches, cute bridges made of branches and a toilet. In addition, there is a snack bar and street kitchen with wicker tables, armchairs and highchairs. And you can quench your thirst in one of two sources with drinking water. Everywhere there are signs directing to the gorge and the rules of conduct in the Goynuk canyon, including in Russian.

Right at the canyon, you will have to rent special equipment, without which you are not allowed to go further to the waterfalls: rubber boots, a sturdy helmet and a vest with or without a wetsuit. This outfit costs about 10-15 dollars. The water in the gorge is quite cold (15-18 degrees Celsius), and the bottom is rocky, so the acquired ammunition helps tourists not to get too cold and not get hurt during the trip. In some places of the canyon, you can get around by boat, but you still have to walk the main path. Having reached the canyon, you will stop admiring the beauty of the surrounding mountains soaring upwards, small and large mountain waterfalls.

The height of the canyon walls in some places reaches 350 meters, and the depth of the river sometimes exceeds 6 meters, so here and there you need to swim. The road will not seem easy, but the amazing beauty of the canyon walls, in some places covered with multicolored and lush vegetation will return the traveler's efforts a hundredfold. In some places, small and very cold streams flow right along the walls of the gorge, and if the gentle rays of the sun reach them, the streams play with all the colors of the rainbow. The walls of the Goynuk canyon are striking in their colors - from white to reddish-green and black, striped and curved, they almost part, then converge again. All this natural splendor is more than 6 kilometers long, but the walking time is unlikely to be more than 3 hours due to the difficulty of moving along the canyon. After a long hike, you can cool off with a swim in the local ponds.
