Photo and description

The Suharto Museum is a historical museum, the exposition of which is devoted to the life story of Haji Muhammad Suharto, the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, and who, it should be noted, was one of the most influential political figures in the history of modern Indonesia. Haji Muhammad Suharto ruled Indonesia for over 30 years, from 1967 to 1998.

The museum is located on the territory of the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah Park - a unique open-air park of its kind. The museum houses a large collection of gifts from President Suharto, among which there are souvenirs and works of art. These gifts are now collected in the museum, and visitors can see them. Gifts were received by the President during official visits to other countries from various world leaders, as well as from Indonesian officials. In addition, the museum's collection features items from his personal life, and in a special hall, visitors can see the military awards of President Suharto, which he received in the struggle for the independence of the people of Indonesia. For those wishing to buy souvenirs, there is a souvenir shop in the museum.

The architecture of the museum building is quite original - the roof of the building is decorated with tumpengs - conical pyramids, one large and somewhat smaller around. Tumpeng symbolizes harmony. The building of the Suharto Museum was built on the initiative of Mrs. City Khartinah as a token of gratitude to the Lord Almighty, as well as in gratitude to the Indonesian people and the international community for supporting President Suharto. The construction of the museum took about five years, from 1987 to 1992.
