Photo and description

As it is clear from the name itself, the National Museum "Chernobyl" is dedicated to the 1986 Chernobyl tragedy. The exposition of the museum has more than 7,000 exhibits, and it continues to grow to this day.

This museum is one of the very first Ukrainian museums opened during independence. The nature of the material collected in the museum, as well as its presentation and the very concept of the museum are so unique that there are no analogues to this museum anywhere else. Thanks to the exhibits, video materials, computer programs, the operating model of the power unit of the station, visitors to the museum can familiarize themselves in detail with the causes and consequences of the accident. Visitors are especially impressed by the corridor, to the ceiling of which there are plaques on which you can read the names of nowadays dead villages and cities, abandoned after the accident by their residents. The museum also contains many unique documents, previously classified maps and photographs.

The spatio-temporal framework of the museum is expanded and the relics collected in the exclusion zone - various items of folk art, ancient icons, personal belongings of liquidators, household items and handicrafts of Ukrainian Polesie. All this, willy-nilly, makes you think about those social, environmental and spiritual problems caused by the disaster. A significant role in the work of the museum is played by philosophical and artistic and emotional images that carry significant thematic loads, thus helping to better understand the tragedy that happened.

Thus, the National Museum "Chernobyl" is not just a place where you can get acquainted with the past, here it is passed through oneself and, through empathy, helps to think about the past and the future, to understand that the solution to the problems of radiation hazard is possible only by universal efforts.
