Photo & Description

The Philippine Eagle Breeding Center, located in the Malagos area of Davao City, is a haven for these birds of prey, as well as other animals that represent the incredibly diverse forest ecosystems of the Philippines. Every year the number of visitors to the center is increasing, which is understandable, because here, in the center of the industrial area, you can see a real corner of wildlife.

Initially, the center was conceived as a place for demonstration of the Philippine eagles - unusually beautiful and charming birds, the symbol of the country. However, over time, it has developed into one of the most popular tourist destinations in Davao. Today, it houses 36 Filipino eagles, as well as other animals, including a variety of reptiles, mammals and, of course, birds that are characteristic of the Philippines. Among the inhabitants of the center are hawks, falcons, monkeys, crocodiles, Asian deer, wild boars. And the most popular local "inhabitant" is Pag-asa - the first Filipino eagle bred in captivity.

The Center is a division of the Philippine Eagle Conservation Foundation, which implements various research and environmental education projects. Thanks to the Foundation's materials presented at the center, each visitor can learn about the life of these amazing birds in the wild and what is being done to preserve them. It also hosts regular lectures on various aspects of eagles' life - feeding them, protecting them from poachers, breeding offspring, etc. Groups of schoolchildren and students are frequent guests of the center, for whom special presentations are prepared on the Foundation's field research programs. And every visitor to the center can take part in a real falconry!

An interesting program is being implemented in the center - for 100 thousand Philippine pesos a year, you can “adopt” a very real Philippine eagle! The money will go to the maintenance of the bird. On the territory of the center there is a stand with the names of those who have already provided such support.

The Filipino Eagle Breeding Center is located an hour's drive south of downtown Davao towards Digos. There are many souvenir stalls nearby where you can buy eagle T-shirts or other similar items. And the center itself, surrounded by huge trees and flower beds, is an ideal place to relax.
