Rating: 8,6/10 (345 votes) The Golden Horn Bay is located in the Bosphorus Strait and its shape really looks a bit like a horn. The curved and long bay juts deep into the land and divides the European part of Istanbul into the Old City and the New City. The bay is over 12 kilometers long, with an average depth of 47 meters and a width of 122 meters. In the western part of the Golden Horn Bay, two small rivers Ali-bey-su (in ancient times it was called Kidaros), as well as Kiat-khane-su (its ancient name was Barbizes) flow into it. The shores of the bay connect 4 bridges: Halich bridge, Galata bridge, Ataturk bridge and Old Galata Bridge (currently not in use).
