There is a widespread version according to which the Anatolian Fortress is one of the most ancient similar architectural structures in Istanbul. It was built in 1393 according to the order of Sultan Beyazid I, in the part of the strait where its width is minimal and reaches six hundred and sixty meters. In the Middle Ages, the fortress served as an observation post. The height of the Anatolian fortress reaches twenty-five meters. After Constantinople fell, the fortress was used as a prison.
