Pebble beaches and clear sea will appeal to those who prefer a traditional beach holiday, as well as those who have a rest with children. The infrastructure of the city is quite developed – Every year in Tsandrypsha new recreation centers, restaurants and nightclubs appear. In addition, here you can taste dishes of the national Abkhaz cuisine, and in the warm season, the resort pleases with an abundance of fresh fruits and other crops grown on these fertile lands. When the influx of tourists dies down, the resort turns into an ideal place for relaxing walks and excursions. The history of Tsandrypsha began in the 1st century BC, and until the 6th century it was the capital of the Sanigia principality. One of the most famous buildings is the Khashup Fortress, the ruins of which are located in a picturesque place near the Khashupse River. Its construction began over a thousand years ago and ended by the 10th century. Once the fortress was the most massive and impregnable structure in Abkhazia and was strategically important. Until now, only the lower part of the walls, the ruins of watchtowers with loopholes, as well as stone-paved depressions in which rainwater collected have survived. From the cliff on which the fortress stands, a view of fir forests and peaks opens up Gagra mountain range. By the way, tourists should be careful – the area is overgrown with thorny blackberry bushes. Nearby there is an ancient cemetery overgrown with acacias. Visiting divers rush towards the wild White Stone Beach, which is located at the exit from Tsandrypsha.
