Nagano is quite popular, and many already have a favorite place for lovers of winter sports, such as snowboarding and skiing. In winter, the mountain slopes are covered with a thick and dense snow cover, which creates excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Several dozen skating rinks and ski resorts are open in Nagano; more than 20 million people visit them every year. Among the architectural monuments of Nagano, it is worth highlighting Zenkoji - a Buddhist temple, construction which began in the 7th century. The main part of the construction of the temple was completed in the 18th century. This temple is a picturesque relic and an example of the architectural style of the Edo period, and is also one of the most important Buddhist shrines in Japan.

Matsumoto Castle is located in the central part of Nagano Prefecture. Its construction was completed by the 16th century. Matsumoto Castle is one of the most well-preserved medieval castles, it appears to tourists as a structure in five tiers, because of its color and shape, nicknamed the"Raven".

An interesting Sake Museum is located on the territory of the Azumino district featuring more than 100 varieties of this drink produced in Nagano Prefecture.

Kawanakajima is a battlefield between the samurai clans Uesuga and Takeda. In total, five great battles took place here. In order to remember them, a sculptural composition was installed nearby, depicting a duel between two leaders of warring clans. This episode, reflected in the sculpture, took place in 1561, during the fourth battle of the clans.

In Jigokudani Yaen Park, vacationers have the opportunity to watch a funny sight - wonderful monkeys bathing in open hot springs.

Kamikochi is a narrow plain located more than 1500 meters above sea level and is one of the most picturesque places in Japan. It is pleasantly cool in summer, sunny and frosty in winter. Nearby is the charming Taisho Lake, which emerged after the eruption of the local volcano Yakedake in 1915. There is also the Kappa suspension bridge, which offers a wonderful panoramic view of Mount Hotaka and the surrounding area. This area also has a huge number of hot springs.
