Eyyub Ansari Mosque and Tomb in Turkey, Istanbul Resort
Rating: 8,5/10 (1894 votes)  Eyyub Ansari Mosque (al-Ansari) is an important place for pilgrims, standing on a par with Mecca and Medina. The mosque was built in 1458 on the site of the death, during the siege of Constantinople, of the brave standard-bearer Eyyub Ansari (al-Ansari), who served the prophet Muhammad. The architectural complex of the mosque includes, in addition to the mosque itself, a tomb Eyyub Ansari, madrasahs and baths. The mosque has six minarets, the interior design of the temple is made in blue tones. Noteworthy is the mihrab – prayer niche carved in marble. The mosque was reconstructed in the 19th century. The tomb of Eyyub Ansari has an octagonal shape and is decorated with tiles from Kutahya.
