The mosque was built in 1458 on the site of the death, during the siege of Constantinople, of the brave standard-bearer Eyyub Ansari (al-Ansari), who served the prophet Muhammad. The architectural complex of the mosque includes, in addition to the mosque itself, a tomb Eyyub Ansari, madrasahs and baths. The mosque has six minarets, the interior design of the temple is made in blue tones. Noteworthy is the mihrab – prayer niche carved in marble. The mosque was reconstructed in the 19th century.
