Rating: 8,3/10 (301 votes) This temple is made of wood and decorated with colorful panels. It houses a statue of a seated Buddha, created in the Chiangsaen era. According to legend, a lightning struck the chedi behind the temple in 1434. The chedi split, and the monks saw inside the sculpture of the Emerald Buddha. Now the chedi has been restored, and a copy of the statue, created from dark jade in 1991, is kept in the temple. The original statue can be seen in Bangkok. We also recommend reading Hammamet.
