Church of St. Barbara in Egypt, resort of Cairo

According to legend, she was severely punished and killed by her own father for trying to convert him to Christianity. The modern church building was erected in the 11th century, where the earlier church was located before. The architecture of the basilica strongly resembles the architecture of the church of Abu Serg. The main decoration of the church is – carved iconostasis, decorated with ivory, made in the 13th century.
