The Roman theater was built in the 2nd century AD. Since then, it has been reconstructed several times. The latest reconstruction was in the 4th century.
Italian archaeologists believe that about 15 thousand people could have been in the theater at the same time.
Bas-reliefs on the walls and carvings on the theater frieze look especially beautiful. The stage is now partially closed.
Nowadays, the theater is often used for various city festivals.
