Ayutthaya was founded in 1350. The full name of the city is Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The historical part of the city is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city has many ancient historical and cultural attractions. In ancient times, it was surrounded by fortress walls, the length of which was 12 kilometers. Currently, you can see only a part of the surviving fortifications. However, many palaces and temples have been successfully preserved to this day. The most significant temple in the city Wat Phra Sisanphet was founded in the middle of the 15th century. The three chedi stupas installed in it are dedicated to the first rulers of Siam. In one of the stupas rests the remains of King Trailock. Nearby are the Ratchaburan and Wat Phra Mahathat temples, also dating back to the 15th century. Going down the stairs from the Ratchaburan temple, you can get to an ancient crypt with fragments of paintings dating from the 14th century. The Ayutthaya Museum is one of the city's most significant attractions. It is open within the walls of the palace that once belonged to the crown prince. The museum's exposition includes many priceless items of bronze and gold, numerous Buddha statues, as well as other treasures of the ancient city.
