ImageThe Lord Mayor's Palace is the main building of the British city of York, notable for its Ionic columns. The palace is the official residence of the city's Lord Mayor in office. The City Hall is located behind the Lord Mayor's Palace. The residence is located in St. Helena Square, at the intersection of Lendal and Coney Streets, and is an early Gregorian building. The first stone in the foundation of this building was laid in 1725, the construction lasted seven years. The author who created the project of the building is unknown, but researchers suggest that the facade of the building was designed by the architect William Etty, a well-known architect of that time. He was a native of the city of York and his fellow countrymen respected and loved him very much, as evidenced by the monument erected in his honor. ImageImageImageImage
