Grunewald Hunting Palace – the oldest palace in Berlin. Built in 1542 – 1543 It is assumed that the author of the palace project was the architect Kaspar Theiss, and the customer - and ndash; Joachim II Hector, Elector of Brandenburg. Built in the early Renaissance style, the building was named By the Green Forest. The entire forest area surrounding the palace received the same name. By 1800, the castle was called Grunewald for short.

At the beginning of the 18th century, at the direction of Frederick, the first Prussian king, the palace was rebuilt by Martin Grunberg, the court architect. Then the palace acquired baroque elements.

Since 1932, the Hunting Palace has been used as a museum and is part of the Foundation of Prussian Palaces and Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg.

The exposition of the palace museum includes numerous canvases by Lucas Cranach the Elder, paintings from the Netherlands and Germany XV – XIX centuries. Also, visitors to the palace have the opportunity to see the only Renaissance hall in Berlin. Since 1977, an exhibition of hunting   accessories.
