The Prison Hotel is an unusual hotel with a peculiar atmosphere on the Katajanokka Island in the very center of Helsinki, in the area of port warehouses. The city market square is ten minutes walk away.

Since 2007, the hotel has been housed in a red brick prison built in 1837. The red brick building stopped being a prison in 2002. The hotel has become a real attraction, especially for those who like new and unusual experiences. And today, in the appearance of the building, its past is guessed, despite the fact that the bars from the windows, of course, have been removed. But this feeling is not oppressive or depressing. The corridors are very spacious, the iron stairs only add to the hotel's identity.

All premises of the prison have been completely re-equipped in accordance with modern trends, a sauna, a gym, a restaurant with a terrace, a bar and a park area.

The former cells are decorated in warm colors and are quite spacious. The hotel rooms are furnished with every comfort: air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, work desk, minibar, LCD TV with DVD player, safe and other useful things. Most rooms have three small windows that let in enough light. On the walls are photographs from the building's former life. The hotel has 106 rooms in total.

The hotel restaurant is very popular, its special atmosphere is created by the massive brick walls and barred windows. There is a very large selection of dishes here. In addition, the restaurant has an outdoor terrace near Linnanpuisto Park where guests can enjoy an afternoon coffee or cocktail.
