Rating: 8,3/10 (611 votes) Liverpool City Hall is the Liverpool City Council building located on High Street. The building was built in the 18th century on the site of an older building (1515), which stood slightly to the south, and today it has remained practically unchanged, as all guidebooks, historical reference books and other sources say. The town hall was built over five years from 1749 to 1754. designed by architect John Wood the Elder. Later it was completed and rebuilt many times.
Today, the building of the Liverpool City Hall can only be accessed as part of an organized tour. The city council meets there every seven weeks. At other times, the Town Hall hosts a variety of official events, meetings, presentations and even wedding ceremonies.
On the north side of the building is the Exchange Flags Square, where the 1813 monument dedicated to Admiral Nelson stands.
