In the house-museum of the poet, the atmosphere of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries has been recreated, authentic things, photographs and family documents are kept. The museum is located in the Old Town, where low wooden houses are decorated in the Empire style. It was in this house that the greatest poet of Sweden, a prominent representative of national romanticism, Johan Ludwig Runeberg, lived for 25 years. Here he wrote most of his works, including the poem"Our Country", which later became the anthem of Finland. The poet moved to this house immediately after his marriage, and his son was born here. The exhibition of sculptures is located in a neighboring house. The famous sculptor Walter Runeberg created a monument to Alexander II, which today stands on Senate Square in the city of Helsinki. These two houses are combined into one museum complex. We also recommend reading Museum of Dolls and Toys in Finland, Porvoo Resort Topic: Runeberg Father and Son Museum in Finland, Porvoo Resort. |
