The J.L. Runeberg House-Museum is located in that part of the city, which is decorated in the Empire style, and the low wooden houses form squares, according to the classic city plan. It is here that the greatest Finnish-Swedish poet Johan Ludwig Runeberg lived for 25 years. A collection of sculptures by the poet's son, the famous sculptor Walter Runeberg, is exhibited in the adjacent building.
