Vartiovuori Observatory - old astronomical observatory in the Finnish city of Turku. Located on Vartiovuori hill. Today the observatory houses the Museum of Navigation and Astronomical collections.

The building of the astronomical observatory was built in 1819 year in accordance with the project of Karl Ludwig Engel. Of the three proposed projects, this one was chosen, and the decisive word was for the emperor Alexander I. The functional organization of the observatory was based on organization of an observatory in Stockholm.   IN The Vartiovuori observatory has the shape of a cross with an apse. The construction of the observatory was accompanied by difficulties, Engel could not supervise the progress of the work. This led to the fact that the builders began to disrupt the project.
