The zoo is home to more than 2000 representatives of about 200 species of various animals. More than 1000 different plants are also presented here. There are more than twenty endangered and rare animal species in this zoo. Korkeasaari Zoo is a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the International Association of Zoologists; is a member of the European Program for the Conservation of Endangered Species. Korkeasaari Zoo is located on the island of the same name in the eastern part of Helsinki and covers an area of more than 22 hectares. In connection with this event, security was significantly increased, video surveillance of the enclosures was installed. Today the zoo is divided into thematic sections. The section"Northern Joys" presents rare arctic animals; in the"Valley of the Cat" - representatives of the cat family of all sizes and colors, from wild cats to the Amur leopard and the Ussuri theater. Section"Plateau of Mongolia" acquaints visitors with steppe animals of Asia,"Borealia" - with birds and animals of the tropics. The section"Locals" is inhabited by mammals from Scandinavia, sections"Australia" and"Amazonia","North America" - animals, birds, reptiles of the respective regions. In"Africa" are the inhabitants of the jungles of South Asia and African semi-deserts. The pavilions"Amazonia" and"Africa" are connected by an underground passage with a small cafeteria and the attraction"Donate a coin". In summer, the zoo has two restaurants and two souvenir shops.
