Rating: 8,0/10 (300 votes)
ImageRuissalo is a reserved island in the Archipelago Sea of Finland. The island is recognized as a nature reserve, because it has preserved in its original form a relict oak forest, unique for Finland. On the island of Ruissalo, there is the Botanical Garden of the University of Turku, several sanatoriums, an equipped recreation area for the townspeople with a beautiful beach, a spa center, a golf course and a camping. There is also a small, unofficial nudist beach on the island. Mansions and summer cottages built on the island between the 19th and 20th centuries are protected by the state. Private construction on Ruissalo is now illegal. Ruissalo Island is connected to the mainland by a bridge. Throughout the island, there are dirt and asphalt roads that allow any transport and cyclists to move freely. Ruisrock, one of the oldest open-air rock music festivals, has been held annually for several decades on one of the coasts of the island in the first days of July. ImageImage
