Old Square - the historical square of the city of Turku, located on the eastern bank of the Aurajoki River, in the I district of the central district.

The square was built during the Middle Ages around city Cathedral. With the passage of time and the development of the city, the area acquired administrative and political significance. On the square were built buildings that have become historical and administrative dominants - Abo Academy, Chancellery and Secretariat of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, Swedish lyceum.

Exactly from the Old Square, namely from the balcony of the Brinkkala house on the square, the traditional “Christmas world” is proclaimed annually. Here theatrical"Days of the Middle Ages" are held every year in July, as part of which a fair dedicated to medieval crafts is organized on the square.

Two picturesque squares are laid out in the Old Square of Turku - Portana square and Brahe square, where sculptural images of these famous Finnish figures.
