Donau-Auen is the largest national park in Austria. Territorially, the park occupies 93 km 2. Donau-Auen is also one of the most valuable parks in Central Europe.

The park was founded in October 1996. Currently, most of the territory is coastal forests (about 65%).

The park has a fairly diverse flora – there are more than 800 plant species, among which there are also endangered and rare species.

The fauna of Donau-Auen is also very diverse. The park is home to many different species of animals, which also include endangered and rare species of the Austrian fauna. A total of about 13 species of amphibians, more than a hundred species of birds, about 60 species of fish and 8 species of reptiles live in the park.

For the convenience of tourists, the Danube bicycle route passes through the park, which will allow enjoy the picturesque scenery.
