Thirteen British Prime Ministers have graduated from Christ Church College. The same number of prime ministers have emerged from the other 45 colleges in Oxford. Other famous people who came out of the walls of Christ Church include the English writer Richard Curtis, writer, philosopher and mathematician Lewis Carroll, educator and philosopher John Locke, writer, ideologist and colonization researcher Richard Hackluyt and others. Christ Church College is often found in literature, such as Evelyn's Return to Brideshead, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Also on the territory of the college were filming episodes of films, such as the film adaptation of Philip Pullman's"The Golden Compass" and books by J.K. Rowling about Harry Potter.
