The Stuttgart TV Tower is the world's first concrete TV tower, which is the prototype of many similar towers around the world. The tower is located in the southeastern district of the city – Degerloch, on the Hoher Bopser Upland.
The tower took 20 months to build, opening in February 1956. In that year, the tower was commissioned together with the S & uuml; ddeutscher Rundfunk TV and radio station, which was later renamed S & uuml; dwestrundfunk. Nowadays, FM radio stations are broadcast from the tower.
At first, the cultural value of the tower caused a lot of controversy. however, it quickly became a popular landmark in Stuttgart.
The upper and lower viewing platforms are open to visitors. You can visit a cozy panoramic cafe in the basket of the tower on the platform.
