Market church in Germany, Hanover resort
Rating: 8,4/10 (6023 votes)  The Market Church of Saints George and Jacob is the main Lutheran church in Hanover, located on the Market Square in the old part of the city. The church was built in XIV century in the style of `` brick gothic ''. During the Second World War, the building was seriously damaged – the vaults of the naves and the roof were destroyed. Restoration work was carried out until 1952. At the same time, the church portal was decorated with sculptures by Gerhard Marx. The remains of Johann Michael von Obentraut, the hero of the Thirty Years War, who was known under the nickname German Michel, are also buried in the church.
