Worms Cathedral, also known as St. Paul's Cathedral, is a Catholic church and one of the most popular architectural landmarks in Worms. The cathedral is located on a hill where the Romans and Celts settled in ancient times. In the 7th century, an early Romanesque church was built on this site; at the beginning of the 12th century, the church was demolished, and the current cathedral building was not built on its place. According to archaeological data, the construction of the cathedral took place between 1130-1181. Under the altar in the cathedral room lie the remains of members of the imperial family of Conrad II and his entourage.
