Islamic Museum in Tunis, Monastir resort
Rating: 8,8/10 (569 votes)  The Islamic Museum is located between the male and female parts of Ribat, in the building of a former mosque. The museum has existed since 1958. It presents almost the entire history of the Islamic world. The museum displays a collection of objects and ancient manuscripts that belong to the era of the emergence of Islam, fabrics of the 4th-6th centuries, woodcarving samples from the Great Mosque in Kairouan, bone carvings, silver and gold coins, clay and glass items belonging to the periods of the Fatimid and Abbasid dynasties. An interesting exhibit of the museum is an astrolabe made in 927 in Cordoba.
