Museum of Islamic Civilization in the UAE, Sharjah Resort
Rating: 8,8/10 (548 votes)  The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization is the first museum of its kind in the UAE. Its opening took place in 2008. The museum is located on the embankment, in a two-story building, where in the recent past an indoor market was located. The central dome of the building is covered in gold. The interior has two galleries with vaulted ceilings and rows of niches where the shops used to be. There are seven halls in the Museum of Islamic Civilization, in which approximately 5000 exhibits are exhibited. Models of mosques and originals and copies of the Koran dating from different eras are considered to be of particular importance. The museum also displays many historical photographs and old engravings.
