Bazacle in France, resort of Toulouse
Rating: 8,2/10 (7493 votes)  Bazacle – one of the attractions of Toulouse. In the place where the bazacle is located, the first bridge over the Garonne was built. In 1190, several windmills and a dam were built here with the permission of Count Raymond V of Toulouse. Francois Rabelais wrote about these mills in the 16th century, in his opinion, they were the most powerful mills of their kind. Toulouse mills became the prototype of a joint-stock company: the lords who owned them sold shares, and their value varied depending on the percentage of profit. A hydroelectric power station was built here in 1890, bought by the state in 1946.
