Rating: 7,8/10 (600 votes) The Poldi-Pezzoli Museum was founded in the mid-19th century by Gian Giacomo Poldi-Pezzoli as a private collection. In 1881, the museum was opened to the public. Today the museum houses a large collection of armor, weapons, Italian classical sculpture, painting XIV – 19th century Persian carpets, Renaissance furniture, Flemish tapestries, antique ceramics and Venetian glass. Especially interesting are the works of Dutch masters and painters of northern Italy. It contains works by Michelangelo, Raphael Santi, Mantegna, Canaletto, Ferrari, Giordano, Tour, Solario and many others.
