The fortress was built in the 16th century, during the struggle against the invasion of the Spaniards. In 1968, restoration work was carried out, during which it was established that the fortress was built on the ruins of an old port of the 13th century. It was a massive rectangular structure surrounded by a moat where you can see medieval cannonballs and cannons. The thickness of the walls of the fortress is about 4 meters. It makes no sense to examine the fortress from the inside, as there are only bare walls.
