He's the South Channel – included as a monument to French engineers in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The construction of the canal began under King Louis XIV and lasted for about 20 years. The main task of this canal was to connect Toulouse with the Mediterranean coast, in particular with the city of Sete.

Today the canal continues to function. 91 gateways are working properly along the entire length of the channel.
